People who neglect their kids end up with kids that eat paint off the walls.
Like, you really have to be negligent for a child in your care to eat paint continuously. Enough to elevate the level of lead in their blood.
So there is likely a lot going on in any household where babies/toddlers/school aged kids eat paint.
But I agree white academia was trying to find an “environmental” reason for crime because let’s face it elections are won/loss based on crime.

There was a steep decline in violent crime from the 70's into the 80's which is correlated with the removal of lead from gasoline. From the perspective of black people it probably didn't seem that way because of the level of poverty and depseration still rampant to this day.
