So 1st it was all down hill when he went solo, chasing pop dollars,NOW YOUR ARGUMENT is that GANGSTER'S PARADISE was light compared to his 1st album.
Are you sure what your stance is?
My stance is this:
I didnt bump coolio ALBUMS,i was focused on other rappers. However he did drop dope single after dope single from 94-97.
Atleast 2 are classic and most of the lyrics are filled with real shyt.
Fantastic voyage and Gangster's Paradise are Bonafide classics.
They are 2 songs, that if they come on,most people of a decent age can recite them, not just the hook, but the verses also. If no one has a problem with this, then my beef is done. If anyone strongly believes i'm wrong about Gangster's paradise,i'll most likely go into your profile and dig up an old post of you celebrating a song, that aint half as good. I'm done for now

this aint one of the most cleverest songs ever made or nothin, its just one of those 'biggest rap anthems of all time' that purists might hate on

i was still in my last year of elementary school but this was all over the mainstream radio and one of the first rap singles i remember doing so, so it's impossible for me not to like it

Yall gotta factor in that it was attached to dangerous minds....:snoop:

Michelle Phifer was kinda bangin, but that movie didn't do that song any favors with how it's remembered.

Gangstas Paradise is a classic. shyt just got too big for its own good. When white people could sing a song about gangstas word for word you know its a rap. Then Weird Al parody'd it...and Coolio got overexposed and corny. The song just became joke...but its still classic. It didnt help that the movie was pretty wack too...but the feeling you get during the movie when its like...

Mexican: Ey you took something that fukking belongs to me Ese!

Emilio: *psh* Maaaaaan she came to me with open arms...besides...you gotta have one of these *grabs dikk*

Mexican: Your dead!

*Gangstas Paradise Drops*

The song was supposed to be a bit much rougher with language and everything, but Stevie wouldn't approve the sample if he didn't take the profanity out. IMO it's a message in the song, but people just heard the hook and the catchy beat and it went over their heads all together.

"Gangster's Paradise" is a Classic Song. Dope sample, Nice lyrics and LV killed the hook. The problem was it was attached to that weak White Savoir film "Dangerous Minds" with Michelle Phiffer being the White Jesus coming to save the hood from itself. That was my only issue. But the song itself was dope. Also Coolio did drop not only some dope singles but some good albums. I would say Coolio's 1st 3 LP's were decent to solid. Now I would agree he doesn't have a classic but he does have some Classic songs. He did song with Biggie and Tupac. Coolio also had a pretty nice flow. I think cause of his drama in his life recently and him falling off people like to say he was corny. But Coolio was dope in the 90's. He did fall off when the West fell off but overall I thought he was decent artist. But "Gangster Paradise" was a worldwide Hit which was rare for a Rap song back in the day. It was a grammy over "Dear Momma" and "Big Poppa" back in the day too. Also Michael Jackson put Weird Al on not Coolio, are some of you kidding? This was my joint in the late 90's from Coolio:
