Misleading titles are a scourge, even with respectable institutions these days. The Houthis defeated the Navy using the same tactics as the Vietnamese or Al Queda, raids utilizing speed and exploiting the lack of autonomy versus their ability to turn on a dime.
Every time there's been a direct confrontation, they melt away which is why I said misleading and not incorrect. They're making gains but it's not because they're more powerful or advanced. The US Navy is a lumbering juggernaut that can level almost anything that confronts it directly but against a shadowy opponent that obeys no traditional tactics?
This is going to get worse because they're going to have to escalate, which just broadens the conflict and brings the risk of other elements getting more involved. The only other option is to withdraw or severely reduce support for Israel and that's not going to happen because this is about utilizing the proxy to leverage the region.
The US will divert another country's GDP worth of resources before giving up that foothold.
