Yen, Yeoh, and Yuen re-unite for “Crouching Tiger” Sequel

Major news have come on the horizons involving the sequel to the 2000 hit wuxia pian CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.

Screen Daily has reported that shooting will begin next March for the sequel, entitled THE GREEN DESTINY. John Fusco (THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM) has written the screenplay based on the fifth installment of Wang Dulu’s Iron Pentalogy novels, “Iron Knight, Silver Vase”. The original CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON was based on the fourth installment.

The major news involve the lead actors and the director of the film. Yuen Woo-Ping, who choreographed the action for the original, will return as director while Michelle Yeoh will reprise her role of swordswoman Yu Shu Lien. Donnie Yen has also signed on to play a new character named Silent Wolf. This will mark the first time in two decades that Yen, Yeoh, and Yuen will be working together since 1994′s WING CHUN.


The Weinstein Company will be producing the film, which will be set for release in either late 2014 or early 2015.
