Explain how this song changed mainstream.
ushered in the wave of candy-inspired hip-hop, quickly followed by wayne's "lollipop" and 50's "candy shop" which was released two years earlier, but as we all know, laffy taffy transcends time and space - allowing it to retroactively influence the past.

the lowest point in hip hop history is mid 2000 snap music

fight me...

Snap music was nowhere as big as forums make it out to be. Yeah, there were some huge songs that were snap songs from that era, but it wasn't the norm and they weren't exactly top sellers. It was a very niche market with a short shelf life.

Nope. I remember hearing all of these songs before they blew up. I was riding in a car with a friend and "Laffy Taffy" came on the radio in like July 2005. "Pool Palace", "Lean Wit It, Rock It", "Walk It Out", "Snap Your Fingers" and a host of others were staples during that time. Still, it was also the time when Jeezy was releasing his first album. Houston had its run. Three Six and that whole Hustle & Flow soundtrack was taking off. T.I. was on the verge of his big break. Common had a huge year and Kanye was everywhere. And even in Atlanta where Snap originated, there still was an alternative:
