Basketball which is very competitive. But put your kid on a few travel teams help them get exposure and put them with a trainer a couple days during the week. Get them a gym membership, if you do this early it’ll help. The thing about basketball a lot of recruiters want height and strength. So lifting weights not a bad idea either.

If you start early by the time they hit middle school everyone in the town will know your kid a hooper. The earlier you start the better.

My daughter does tumbling and swim class. My son goes to weather camps in the summer and does basketball and track during the school year.

But 9yrs ild is too young for a gym
No it’s not at the ymca gym we’re apart of its two sections. One section is for kids 8-15 play ball the other is where the adults play ball from 16- adults. As far as weights is concerned you can buy a weight bench and dumbbells at your house just monitor him when he lift. Start light.
