How will this work?
We will do a process called an "Assumption of Liability" (AOL) of the line.
This means that you agree with Verizon Wireless to assume the remainder of my contract. I give ownership of my unlimited data line to you.
The entire transfer process is done over the phone with you, me, and Verizon Wireless.
You do not need to be a current customer with Verizon Wireless for the unlimited data to transfer.
- Upon payment, you will provide the name you want the account to be registered under and a contact phone number.
- I will then provide this information to Verizon Wireless and authorize you to assume the contract.
- You will then need to call Verizon Wireless's Assumption of Liability department to help you through the transfer process.
IMPORTANT:
To keep the Verizon unlimited data, you will need to stay on the “Nationwide Plan” (not the Share Everything Plan).
The unlimited data will remain intact as long as you keep a smartphone associated with the line. You must never put a basic phone on the line, and you must NOT upgrade your phone directly with Verizon subsidized/discounted device. To change phones in the future, you'll need to purchase them at full retail directly from Verizon or purchase them from a third party. Again, if you attempt to upgrade at a discounted THROUGH Verizon, you will lose the unlimited plan.
Verizon is one of the few carriers that still allow transfers of unlimited data through the AOL process. However, the buyer assumes all responsibility for making sure Verizon upholds the unlimited data package on the transfer.
Please call Verizon (800)922-0204 before buying if you have any questions or concerns about the transfer process.
