People generalize Meek a lot. But if you really go into his catalog. There's a lot diversity. As much "overcoming struggle" rap as their as "Rollie" rap.

Really underrated artist these days.

word up you could tell who is sheep and who isn't, the people saying all he does is rap about "rollies'' are flat out hypocrites. all Drake raps about is being a simp cry baby cause these strippers breaking his heart.

Not even that. Present day, Drake does far more brag rap than Meek. Drakes music is literally bragging and bytches. That's it.

I don't remember the last time i heard a drake song that wasn't about bragging or bytches.

I had to go back and listen. ... his diversity is much greater. Story telling is much rawer.
It's not that he's that much better of a storyteller. It's more about the story he's telling and the passion/energy he puts behind the words.

Drake doesn't rap with his energy and that monotonous tone with no flow isn't ideal for storytelling.

Example here with Kendrick

The flow and the conviction he raps with is what really sets the tone for the story.

Where as on a track like Look What You've Done, it has potential to be a great storytelling song, but he raps so monotonous and as if he doesn't even wanna be there.

Weird because before this whole pop era of Drake rushed in, storytelling was his forte.

Successful is still a great song, as is The Calm.

Don't know why he went the other way but :yeshrug:

i agree, Drake's music has turned more soul less and doesn't have much meaning like before. i enjoyed So Far Gone Drake more than any other era. even Take Care had it's moments too.
