Strictly speaking to the 80's and 90's babies... Did you ever notice that there weren't many autistic kids at all? Sure we had the special ed classes, but those kids were really dealing
with some development issues. I'll preface this by what happened this morning...

I go to the grocery store after the gym to pick up a few things, and it's a mother and daughter standing there...The mother greets me, so I greet her back, and I extend the "good morning to her daughter"... Now this girl is around 18-19ish... And when I say good morning to her she gives this "why is this dude talking to me" look...

So her mom looks at her and she's like "Don't be rude"..."What do you say when someone says good morning?":dahell:

So the girl says "Good morning"...And the mother tries to kind of continue the convo, but at that point I'm like...:childplease:

So in my head I'm thinking, and no...I'm not a doctor, mental health professional or otherwise qualified to diagnose anyone; however...My momma woulda smacked the FIRE outta me :demonic:

had someone spoken to me, and I not replied swiftly...So my question is this...

Were there Autistic kids during our time, it was just our parents didn't play that blinky, blinky, stare into space shyt? They wouldn't tolerate us acting "less than normal"?

The politically correct answer: we just diagnose autism better today.

My answer: I don’t actually know but this is goofy as fukk. Between autism and peanut allergies, I think nature is telling us that a lot of y’all shouldn’t have made it.

:unimpressed:

I’m trolling.
But I’m saying tho.

The internet and social media made growing up more isolated and awkward. It's probably kids now that never played hide & seek or played tag. They played some Fortnite and CoD, though.

And that's mostly speaking for men. I can't speak for what effect the Information Age has had on girls and their various feminine social conflicts.

I didn’t try to converse with her. Her mother started the interaction. Otherwise I wouldn’t have said anything.

Yes there were autistic kids during our time....you may have not of noticed it back then....but if you look back at your school days at some of the kids that were considered "odd"....you'll get your answer....
I remember odd kids. They were into weird stuff. A little quirky…but never were they socially deficient

The peanut thing throws me over the edge....

Story time...

I'm in the airport, and we have about an hour until we board...So I whip out this peanut butter, and strawberry preserves sandwich...I unwrap it and start eating( jelly falling into my lap and shyt ) it while I peruse the 900 dollar magazine I just bought at one of the book stores... So I get a tap...

Excuse me sir...:francis:

Yes...:beli:

My son...*Points to her son 50 feet away* Is allergic to peanuts... Can you do me a favor and dispose of it...or else he'll get ill...:lupe:

*Me looking at her while I take another bite...*

Nope... I'll be done in a few minutes :stopitslime:

But the spores and residue can induce a reaction...:sadcam:

*Takes another bite*

Ma'am with all due respect, I really don't care about your sons deficiencies :dahell:

:picard: How would you feel if your child had a condition, and someone wasn't sympathetic to it?

Honestly ma'am...That sounds like a personal problem...

better step back...don't want him getting a reaction.

Not every autistic person is socially deficient....

well that's kind of one of the baseline parameters of autism...It may vary in degree, but social deficiency is a primary symptom.

"Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication."

So who you gonna be? KG, Ray, or Paul?

Man the kids in my neighborhood are never outside...No bikes, no tag...nothing...I want to yell at a kid to get off my lawn at least once. :lolbron:

Don't know why I can't use bold print, but that misdiagnosis is spot on
