I remember Ed Lover saying break down the reason why you are called Nine.....he said its because i got three 9's in my birthdate...... 09/09/79...

Ed Lover said, I thought it was because you had a nine " dikk

:sadcam: That sh1t got cancelled then was followed up by mtv jams with bill bellamy which had its moments then it changed into some lame ass top 40 pop bubblegum rap show but still showed videos then idk wtf it is know....But All I remember, is that this show was the nothing but the TRUTH.

ODB being on there was one of my favorite memories - Ol´ Dirty b*stard is Guest on Yo MTV Raps - Freestyle Session - YouTube

Btw RAKIM shouldnt have gone first in that last freestyle he killed it for everyone after him.

KRS had the best verse. It was apparent Rakim spit a pre-written verse, I think everyone else was freestyled. KRS went straight off the head and basically killed it.

Nobody "freestyled" their verse, everyone spit pre-written. I agree Rakim had the best verse, even though my favorite was Method Man.

Still got the VHS recording of this from the first time it ever aired. The Youtube clips always cut off before Flava Flav finally got on (which was hilarious lol).

Not gonna write off this new version before it even airs. We can't keep shytting on the newer generation not keeping the culture alive without even allowing them the opportunity to do so. People have to see real Mcs to take a liking to them and emulate them. As long as this is a legit opportunity to showcase actual rappers with skills, give it a chance at least.

That is not true. Joe Clair did an interview and they asked him who was his favorite artist in the booth and he clearly said KRS. Said everytime he was in the booth he spit a freestyle and just went off the head. Said he never spit a pre-written as he considered him a real MC. Look it up.

Joe Clair wasn't even around by the time they implemented The Booth on Rap City. Tigger was hosting those Booth episodes. Besides that, what does any of that have to do with Yo! MTV Raps? :mjtf:

KRS's verse was in no way shape form or fashion off the top of the head. I've met KRS more than once. I know people who've spent months working with him on projects. I've seen him perform live and I've seen him spit off the dome. He wasn't freestyling. The only cat on that episode that "freestyled" was Flava Flav, and he was just fukkin around buggin out.

I’ve said the current generation should try a show like this to see what happens. This don’t look good at all though. Maybe if feel better about it if they called it something else
There’s already a bunch of YT channels they can watch to get content like this.

TV is done.

I don’t even know if people watch videos anymore. It is what it is.
Oh no people love videos. NBA YoungBoy is who he is because of his music videos. These YT videos for rap music do crazy numbers.
