He had that one sound going for him and after 2005, it kind of became stale. He was actually capable of doing more, but the go go thing is what popped off for him. This was one of his earlier placements:

His work on Amerie's debut was different too, but he OD'd on the "Crazy In Love" sound once it blew.

Still think it was foul how he just let Beyonce shark Ameriie like that :francis: Last I heard of him was on Ameriie's last EP a couple years ago, so I guess no hard feelings between them now.

Beyonce didn't shark her sound. Rich had previously given Kelly Rowland a single. Beyonce needed one. He went in the studio and was having trouble coming up with a track. Beyonce left. When she came back, he played what became "Crazy In Love" and the rest is history. Mind you, Kelly's single came out during Amerie's. Beyonce had some Rich Harrison productions, but none as big as "Crazy In Love". She also had other hits from the same albums with sounds from other producers, so she didn't exactly shark Amerie's sound.

That's the equivalent of Timbo walking away from Aaliyah or Missy right after they developed their sound and carved a lane to work with someone that was essentially competition. I like Crazy in love but I always had mixed feelings about it. Rich had to get paid so I understand but Amerie's career definitely took a hit off loosing the lane she was carving out for herself at the time.

You never hear or see anybody say SWV or Total jacked Aaliyah though just because they had Timbo produce their records though.

Amerie's career didn't take a hit because of Beyonce. She had already impacted before Beyonce debuted. Amerie was never THAT big. In 2002, Amerie was about as big as Tweet and Tweet may have been bigger. Ashanti and Alicia Keys were clearly the biggest female artists out the time.

Amerie was making a name for herself, but she was in a lane already occupied. Rich was already producing Kelly Rowland singles when "Talkin' To Me" was still hot. By the time, Beyonce dropped "Crazy In Love", Amerie was working on another album that wouldn't drop until 2005.

One trick pony. His sound worked until it stopped working. Plus RnB started dying in a major way.

Also as far as him letting Beyonce "shark her sound" that's bullshyt. Amerie released 2 albums and those shyts flopped despite having smash singles. Whatever it was she just wasn't connecting with the people. Amerie and Beyonce were on the same label (Columbia). After 2 albums and her shyt barely was going gold and Beyonce was doing in her first week what Amerie's selling in total who ya'll think they going start putting their energy behind? Also 1 thing came 2 years after Crazy in Love and was still a smash hit single. If Beyonce shaked her then that song should have never blown.

At the same time Timbo was working with Aaliyah. He was doing shyt for Nicole Wray, even gave her a top 5 smash single "Make It Hot." That didn't stop Aaliyah from prospering. If you're an artist people fukk with (and not just your singles) they going fukk with you regardless.
