You are only as good as your parents

If your parents are poor and uneducated chances are you're going to be poor and uneducated.

I've been doing volunteer work for the past 6 months and I'm seeing a lot of men and women continue along this cycle of poverty.

I think class has alot to do with it.

If you grow up poor, you're most likely going to go to shytty schools and get a subpar education, which will lead to less success in college and worse career opportunities.

There are some people who break the mold but they're exceptions.

My mother is the greatest person in my world and I can't even entertain the thought that I'm better. She brought me up. I ain't no criminal, I'm about to graduate and I'm currently studying abroad learning another language.

Can't subscribe to this. Parents made sure I was "better" than them in many ways.

Scholastically. Little do they know, financially. Socially.

Cycle is broken at me and I'll do the same for my kids.

It has NOTHING to do with their achievements if they push you toward something greater...

I come from a single mom who always told me to go to school, get my degree, etc. And that's exactly what I did. Last year I paid my mom's rent for 6 months and this year I put her on my cell phone plan and pay her utilities. My mother was and is "poor and uneducated" but taught me the value of hard work. I guess she was rich in ambition for her children though
