This has still been Playstation's most successful generation by some distance - Nishino Confirms PlayStation 5 as the Most Profitable Generation at Tokyo Game Show 2025 - and next year is shaping up to a bumper year for the console with a solid first/second party slate...

-> Saros
-> Marathon
-> Tokon
-> Phantom Blade Zero

Plus of course huge third-party games like GTA6 and smaller but great looking games whose primary platform will be playstation like RE9, Onimusha, Crimson Desert etc.

Plus smaller stuff like Nioh 3 and all of these console exclusive gacha games that are very popular but that the Coli doesn't care about.

There are definitely some unannounced 2026 ps studio games and 2nd and 3rd party exclusives. Combine that with the exclusives that are confirmed for 2026 along with 3rd party games and 2026 is going to be crazy.

The narrative of the ps5 being underwhelming is because of the number of games that don't utilize the ps5's technology due to all the cross gen 3rd party games and exclusives. Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart is one of a small number of games that utilizes the ps5's technology and could not be done on previous consoles gameplay wise. So this gen is basically an extension of the previous gen with prettier graphics because of the vast number of cross gen games. Games are not providing gameplay that could not be done on the previous gen.

That should change the rest of this gen and into next gen since the cross gen games next gen will be using the ps5 as the base console. Some games will be on ps4, ps5, and ps6 next gen though.
