The calculation is that if Adams dropped out, the people who supported Adams would jump to Cuomo. Thus giving Cuomo a better chance of beating Mamdani in a general election.

When DOJ dropped the charges on him, they should have waited and said we'll only drop the charges under the condition that you drop out of the Mayor's race.
