i finished college around the era where they started pushing laptops thru your tuition. it was starting to get like that but i imagine now it's like that. some classes they just need to man up and get some pens and paper and go old school, too much reliance on tech to do average jobs.

I should add, some universities have an agreement with Apple to supply students with Macbooks, so not EVERYONE purchased them, but when you go to places like the library or Starbucks, its just amazing to see Macbooks out in full effect. I never really noticed until I got one myself last year, but its amazing to see now.
