True, coming out of the sub, it is at about 230 or so decibels. A loud rock band tops out at 130. That's why you occasionally hear about sonar killing whales and dolphins or even beaching themselves to get away from the ping which can travel at least a couple hundred miles.

After I found that out I put it together why whales beach themselves. And people say it's because they're emotional creatures and commit suicide
