The film that he requested the character's wife be Asian was One Night Stand. I remember the backlash, his imdb page has the exact quote he made about his request for the film, but they don't list the source.
The Asian women in that NJC scene were whores. Snipes admires/worships Asian women so I don't think he would have requested them for that role, nor did I think he had the pull back then to make casting requests.
