well for one Jeezy wasn’t included in the policy conversation and is not sitting at the table.

he was invited to the criminal justice reform conversation bc he’s actively trying to do it!

He gave money to Jay-z/Meeks organization for criminal justice reform, he’s talked to cnn and local news about criminal justice reform. He was one of the few artists openly supporting Black Lives Matter, he’s writing op-Ed’s about police brutality.

What else does this man need to do, for u to be ok he’s really involved about the movement and I guess it’s ok he takes a picture with a presidential candidate?

When will he be good enough to contribute his thoughts on the direction of our country?

Well first of all he's sitting right there in the picture next to joe biden at a table, and I doubt he barged his way in there, so I'm not clear on your first sentence

Secondly a huge and landmark criminal justice reform bill was just signed in earlier this year:
First Step Act Update: Over 1,600 Sentences Reduced, 3,000 Prisoners Released | Prison Legal News

I understand the "politics" around this, but this happened whether people like it or not - forget the names and political parties associated...
so why do we need any RAPPERS for this shyt <<< i'm asking this seriously. clearly these things can be done without them.

There is nothing JEEZY can do IMO he's a photo op, he's there to get likes/views/shares for somebody trying to get elected.

there were a few seperate conversations. The picture he’s in was for criminal justice. The other picture with more ppl was the policy meeting. Jeezy was not included

then Keisha held a meeting with Biden with only black women at the table. No photos were allowed.

agree to disagree on Jeezy. I know he’s genuine in his actions.

He lives in Atlanta. He’s a member of that black “country club” the gathering spot. He gives money to black politicians.

But above all else he’s been talking about criminal justice reform with the media for a few years now.

Keisha Lance Bottoms Used Her Famous Father's Drug Arrest to Fuel Criminal Justice Reform

Jeezys been putting his money where his mouth is and has really been doing a lot of positive stuff in Atlanta. They didn’t randomly just pick a rapper to take pics with Joe Biden. He’s been working hard for criminal justice here.

He’s very active supporting the mayor on criminal justice down here.

That’s why idk why nikkas are going so hard on him. He’s really doing positive stuff. It’s not c00ning to include a person who has a platform trying to use it for good.

We above all else need to give other black men a chance, when they try to do righteous stuff.

This thread is incredibly frustrating. :francis: If Jeezy can’t do positive stuff bc of his past, how can others like him become included in society and not ostracized bc u don’t want cacs to judge us.

reading responses in here is truly sad.
I still want someone more intelligent there

When we gonna talk about black businesses and creating jobs and wealth....

These posts r why we aren’t cohesive as a black community.

a black man who’s been arrested and charged by cops, can’t tell his experience bc of his occupation?

The ex convicts in our community shouldn’t have a say in this country bc white ppl say they’re not important? :mjtf:

Jesus what’s wrong with y’all. :snoop: He represents a good size portion of our community, black men who have had legal trouble. They should have a say

You're on a different wavelength entirely. All politics is ultimately local, and Jeezy's been involved just like a lot of other brothers on a local level. It's their home, it only makes sense.

What I'm pointing out has nothing to do with whether he should have a voice, he obviously does and he makes use of it the best way he can. What I'm pointing out is that in the rush to get heard, there are other interests that will seek to use him in various ways. Same way people try to use Luda, or Mike, or Tip, or whoever. Your very presence in a room can give the appearance of political capital(if not outeright endorsement), and that's a currency you want to use very sparingly for a reason. Biden or whoever else couldn't care less. Politicians will use anybody.

And there's another critical discussion that needs to be had regarding the implicit elevation of "celebs" to these leadership roles, that is foolish at best.
