Since making his way onto the national rap scene a couple years ago, Atlanta rapper Young Thug has without a doubt pushed the envelope as far as the boundaries of masculinity in the hip-hop culture.

From referring to mentor Birdman as his “lover” on Instagram to his penchant for wearing dresses, the “Stoner” rapper continuously finds ways to keep his name in the news for better or worse.

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Thug clears the air on the reasoning behind his wardrobe choices.

He says he wears women’s clothes “because women’s clothes are [slimmer] than men’s clothes. The jeans I got on right now, they’re women’s jeans. But they fit how they’re supposed to fit. Like a rock star.”

Thug, who is currently engaged to a woman, goes on to say that the overwhelming majority of his clothes are women’s.

“The only thing I probably have in men’s is like briefs. T-shirts. Ninety percent of my clothes are women’s,” he said.

Young Thug’s long anticipated debut album, Barter 6, debuted at number 22 on Billboard 200 chart selling a disappointing 17,000 units in it’s first week.
