Just FLOATS on the shyt.
Generally, do you know how difficult it is to hear a beat and create a melody for it?
It might actually be easier to just rap on it the traditional way.![]()
That's what most of these "hardcore" lyrical rap fans don't get. Yea you could take Papoose, Canibus, etc and throw them on a London track. Guess what, most likely the song would turn out trash. Both of them and other similar rappers don't have an ear for beats. Young Thug makes catchy songs while these other rappers that people compare him to in order to "prove" he's trash are mainly lyrical rappers. The funny thing is 90% of the lyrical rappers in their prime were also making catchy songs which is the reason people loved them in the first place. Yes Biggie was a great rapper, but you know the reason why everyone knows him? He had catchy songs that happened to be lyrical. A lyrical rapper who can't make a catchy song will never hold the attention to "bring back the game".
2015 was a good year for all types of hip-hop fans. I don't know why people complain about Young Thug and other "catchy" artists bringing the genre down. Outside of Drake, the top two selling acts were Kendrick Lamar and J Cole who are both "lyrical and conscious". Oh but they will say they're part of the corporate machine and don't represent the "real". Guess what, every rapper people idolized in the 90's was part of "the machine". The machine put out more lyrical rappers that made catchy songs because the stuff sold. None of it is selling now. People need to move on or put up their own money to put something out and stop bytching.
