AT&T/Warner tried it Nolan's way. They released TENET in theaters straight up. It bombed. I like Nolan as much as the next person but it flopped.

Can't speak to the deal, but HBO Max is by far the worst viewing interface I've come across in terms of digital streaming
TBH, I just jump in and out of streaming services based on new shows being released, but their experience is among the WOAT.
- No option to skip to the very next episode
- No option to jump to any other episode or any other season
- No option to skip ahead 30 seconds
- If/when the episode crashes or you have to restart it, it starts you at the first episode you started watching. So, if you knocked out 3 episodes, you have to manually drag to the end of the episode 3x to get to where you were

Of COURSE he was going to say this. He’s been literally the biggest cheerleader for the Theater experience for years. Not even just due to covid, he’s been championing Theaters his whole career.
It WAS fukked up of Warner to not consult the production studios who help finance the movies (I thought that would have been common sense) and at least give a heads up to the directors and executive producers.
But I feel like Warner just went ahead and made the hard decision that most of the other studios will be making soon. If there’s no miraculous downturn on Corona cases and deaths, this is the new normal. Disney already looking to debut some of their tentpoles on Disney Plus. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of the Marvel movies got the D+ treatment as well. Amazon, Netflix, and Hulu about to FEAST on some of the comedies and smaller dramas.
