Hey brehs. I have been bouncing back and forth between the choice between these two laptops. I currently own both and need to get rid of one.

1st: Macbook Pro 15" Retina Mind 2014 i7 2.2Ghz 16GB RAM 256GB SSD (with an extra 512GB SD Card)
as seen here (Swappa: MacBook Pro 2014 (Retina) - 15" (MacBook) Specs)

Or a Lenovo YogaBook 910 i7 2.7/2.9Ghz 4K 16GB RAM 512GB SSD TouchScreen
as seen here ( Lenovo - Yoga 910 2-in-1 14" 4K Ultra HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Silver )

I mostly use the laptop for business, but occasionally I DJ with it. I'm honestly torn. On One hand the MacBook is almost 3 years old, but is a beast. Keeps it's value, but is very clunky and heavy. On the other hand the Yoga 910 is Very light, sleek and versatile, but it runs windows, and the fan is loud.

Both are great, but I'm just trying to get some perspective on what you out here int he tech community see as forseeable issues.

I'm just hoping some of you could offer some insight. Peace

The choice should come down to software. Pound for pound a windows machine is going to run laps around a mac.
I use mac at home because of the software I use, not necessarily for the hardware specs alone. I'm not sure what you are using to DJ.
Is the software you use available for Windows? If so, does it perform as well on Windows?
Those are the questions I think matter the most in your case.

I appreciate the reply. Serato DJ is what I use, and there is a windows version available for it, but there are some instability concerns for the windows version.

When you say that a Windows will run laps around a mac, what exactly do you mean?

Performance wise. If you were to do a 1:1 comparison of hardware specs on a mac vs windows you are always going to get a more powerful windows machine for much less than what you would pay for a mac.
Also, Apple is continuing down a path I can't stand, which is their refusal to allow consumers to swap out parts later on.
RAM being soldered? Really? :mindblown:
But I digress.
It sounds like you may be in a similar position to mine. Pro Tools 10/11 is the program I use most and in my experience (as well as the experience of many others) Pro Tools is more stable on mac than it is on windows. I also use Logic X and Final Cut Pro heavily which is only available for Mac. That's not to say there aren't viable alternatives to the programs on windows, but these are the programs I am most comfortable with.

I feel you on the stability. I've had Windows lock up using Serato DJ while DJing a packed club (which is horrifying), and have never had an issue with my Mac. But I rarely DJ anymore, so not really sure if I should give much consideration to it in my decision.

Thanks for your insight.
