inspired by the 84 draft conversation about bowie and smapson...if they stayed healthy who would be a top 5 'injury plagued' center squad based on NBA career before it fell off or their NCAA potential

To me there's a big distinction between actual bust and an injury derailment. Yao for me will be the all time #1 injury-derailed career. :to: We forget how much finesse and touch his game had for a big man (he was the designated technical foul shot shooter for the team!) and it was tragic to see his career cut short by injury, but he had a good run in the league.

In terms of pure bust, gotta be Oden. Even Sampson and Bowie had actual careers. Oden's never got off the ground. To get absolutely nothing out of a #1 pick is the definition of bust.

bowie in college was better than anything oden showed. And walton, maybe you right.
are you sure about that though?

oden got his team to a title game and was a force on defense. he was a beat that season and was manhandling horford/noah in that title game

bowie played for 3 years in college too

bowie was too, had a much..much better offensive game and was more athletic. Oden was big and was a ewing style center but if both are available and healthy i'm probably selecting bowie today

1. Walton
2. Yao
3. Sampson
4. Oden
5. Daugherty

Walton was so cold he's considered an all-time great with only 117 starts, dudes best year was 19/13/5/3/1
Walton has to be #1 on everyone's list. He won an MVP and lead his team to a title when he could actually stay on the court.

1. Walton
2. Yao
3. Bynum
4. Daugherty
5. Oden
