OP clearly said that you - MUST choose a side. Not to describe some ideal scenario where you wouldn’t have to pick a side and would serve as a mediator.

Of they both wrong, I'll try and dead it by being the loudest one in the room. Mom might just back off and wife might be mad for a moment, but I'll explain to both of em after the fact and gain back points in both boards.

But it really depends on the argument. I'd side with Moms if I had no choice, but if it was something to do with our kids or even myself in some way and it didn't involve my Mom's, wife wins.
