No, the team will improve by making smart decisions. You just advocating for signing ANY talent at ANY figure is stupidity. The end goal is to win a ring, not spin the wheel. You out here praising Atlanta who's going to be spinning the hamster wheel for years because Trae Young ain't bringing a ring to ATL and they signing dudes to deals that they can't use to bring another star in.
But maybe I'm bugging. Yes, ATL did a very good job in improving their roster. They most likely will be a playoff team nabbing that 7th or 8th spot. Please explain to me how a starting lineup of:
Trae
Bogie
Cam
John Collins
Capela
is gonna fair against Philly, Milwaukee, Brooklyn, Toronto, and Miami over the next four years? Do you believe the addition of Rondo and Gallo is moving the needle three or four years from now?
Nobody is advocating for signing ANY talent at ANY figure
I advocated for trading Julius, bringing in a veteran PG (FVV, Rondo, Dragic, CP3) and shooters (Bogie, Bertans, Harris, Gallo) at market value not any figure breh,
market value like I said it pages ago if you want good players you have to pay for good players. In the best interest of our young players it would have been beneficial to make those moves to improve the floor spacing and guard play of the team and clear up positional logjams.
Atlanta did not sign ANY talent at ANY figure. They patched up weaknesses on their roster and signed guys at market value.
Last season they ranked 30th in 3PT% so what they'd do? They brought in three guys who shot 40% from 3 last season in Bogie, Gallo, and Snell.
Last season they lacked a back-up veteran PG to run the show when Trae sits so what they'd do? They brought in Rondo fresh off a championship.
Last season they lacked interior defense so what they'd do? They traded for Capela and drafted Okongwu.
Last season they lacked someone who could hide Trae on defense so what they'd do? They brought in Kris Dunn, one of the best guard defenders in the game.
U have low confidence in Trae Young. The Hawks front office sees him as their franchise player. They see a 30/9 guy last season who was an All-Star. They see a new age hybrid of Steph and Nash. They don't think their some 7th or 8th seed and they don't think they can't contend for a championship eventually. That's what
you think. Reddish, Huerter, and Hunter will all still play just in reduced roles. Reddish especially is not even ready to play big minutes. This season is also 72 games and will have extra load management and injuries so it's good they deep.
They would like to field a competitive basketball team and start winning games and getting playoff experience. No team is going from the lottery to a championship you have to make moves. Atlanta instantly becomes more attractive as a playoff team for big free agents and a lot of guys on their team are tradeable. They have amassed enough young talent to trade and they have signed attractive veterans contenders would want.
Also, those teams you mentioned in the East it's uncertain with all of them. The East will look different in 5 years. Giannis may not be in Milwaukee. The Embiid/Simmons thing may be no longer. KD and Kyrie could end up being a disaster. Lowry isn't getting any younger in Toronto. Hawks don't need to win this year or next. They need to win games and compete and get their ass kicked in the playoffs a few times and learn from it and continue making moves every year to improve.
