do we still have enough to offer Nunn something?
They got 7 Mil a year. They paid Rose so much his early bird rights couldn’t cover it.

I am not mad they made the decision to be a treadmill… they can move contracts if an opportunity arises but it’s insanity to give Rose a starting position under Thibs knowing who and what Thibs is.

with fornier where does this put RJ?:ohhh:

The 3rd - 4th option at best?:francis:

For a top 2 pick! :martin:

He might as well come off the bench so he can contribute more and maximize his minutes :yeshrug:

Nunn would be cheap, no one took a chance at Graham, Payne went for stupid low money.

Ya’ll can’t tell me the money they used to bring back Burk’s wouldn’t have been better spent on a PG who would limit Rose’s minutes and allow Rose to play with the bench if they needed that scoring punch.

Fournier and Burks is redundant and on the like Grimes is like them too….
His contract tells me that he didn't want to leave Phoenix, doesn't look like open market money.

According to this thread, depending on what Rose actual contract is, we’d have about 7 million then the midlevel room of about $5 million (can’t combine them). This is only if we sign Rose using his birds. If not we just have the room exception.

I feel like they're gonna do that with the fringe money or summer league guys they got comin in. You can bullshyt PG here, Payne only went for that money cause he staying on a team with nikkas he like playing with, I just don't think you're gonna get any kinda play any better than what we got without overpaying someone bad and then we right back to where we were with Payton.
It’s certain curses that always lead to this teams failure

Other teams always try to rip them off in trades.
They never resign their drafted rookies
They never fix the PG spot

it’s pathological how these three things repeat themselves

They allegedly only paid him 200,000 over his bird allegedly. That doesn’t make sense. The number reported is wrong hopefully.

I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just saying the option to fix the PG spot literally was not there for us this year, at best we sticking that shyt together with glue and hoping it holds, like we doing right now. I need to see how they carry this into the season and what the moves are with Burks and Nerlens/Robinson once guys get back from injuries and the roster starts to crunch down. All these dudes are not gonna be here all year long.

We’ll see. I am going to assign both this and the penny pinching in the draft to Hubris. A lot of things went their way last year and they are choosing to double down, but they haven’t fixed any of their flaws and tripled down on those instead.

No let me be more direct they tripled down on Thibs flaws, and the Knicks are fully on the Thibs treadmill timeline. It’s similar to going all in on a D’antoni team as well. The differences between strengths and flaws make them overproduce in the regular season and food come the playoffs.

Tbh I'm not mad at sticking with being a treadmill. Winning is hard, if none of the guys or guys you think are gonna be the guys are available. Punt on it, compete, be consistent, turn into somewhere nikkas wanna play. Eventually someone will be disgruntled and you'll have the ability to go get him/sign him in FA. Doesn't look like that chance is available RN, so at least aim to win a playoff series.

I am not going to go too far in on all of this because the Knicks didn’t do bad overall. They did better than a lot of teams in both the draft and FA.

It’s just stinks of them thinking last year was a better result than it really was. I saw the playoffs and thought it was a sign of them overproducing as a roster, and the Knicks FO saw that playoff series and it seems like they think they underperformed.

Someone else used the term Hubris first and yeah that is my take.

Free agency was underwhelming but what else could they realistically do with the players available? They got a solid starter with Fournier and Rose was our arguably most important player after Randle. If we overpaid for someone slightly better they were not going to win us a championship next season either.:manny:
