[Zach Harper]" There have been whispers and rumors within the last year that the Suns [ownership] might not have money. Ishbia might not have cash."

Whoever does the vetting process for the NBA prospective franchise owners needs to be fired
Rich white jewish guy (Ishiba) voted in by other rich white jewish owners (45% of NBA owners) facilitated by a gainfully employed white jewish commissioner

They knew Sterling was a scumbag too but didn’t care

There’s a conflict of interest. They benefit from loosening the standards to buy teams because it leads to more potential bidders and inflates team valuations.

The MLB did this with the Dodgers and Frank McCourt too.

The commissioner cared more about getting the specific owner he wanted in instead of actually making sure he was who he said he was. All of those rich people traffic in "net worth", but the sports world operates in liquidity. You can't fake rich and do the perpetual borrowing against assets thing they do as an owner of a sports team......the Timberwolves purchase also supposedly had some money issues too. We can't pretend like this is an accident now. Twice is a trend.

Wasn’t that one of the issues with the Wilpon’s as well?

I know A-Rod and his partners missed a deadline to make a payment but I thought that was more about Glen Taylor saw his valuation like 3/4 of a billion higher than what he was selling it for and tried to get that price point as the new purchase price or some crazy shyt.

Yep. The Wilpons were literally involved with Madoff.

I don't think we'll ever get the full story behind the Timberwolves, but missing a payment isn't a small deal, all of that money HAS to be locked in, it's not like being a little late on rent. The media slid past that part, but that's a HUGE thing on a deal of that level. I'd bet money Glen Taylor knew they were having money problems and was ready to pounce considering the Ant bump on the value.

On a quick Google, it seems like they let Ishbia buy the Suns by pledging stock which is INSANE.

By comparison, a new NFL owner has to have the ability to pay for 30% upfront without loans AND prove they have liquid funds to run everything long term. For example, Josh Harris had to come off $2 billion upfront AND show he had extra to be comfy to pay all of the bills after that when he bought the Commanders.
