NBA star Zach Randolph's brother killed in shooting outside restaurant in Indiana

The brother of NBA basketball star Zach Randolph was shot and killed outside an Indiana barbecue restaurant early Saturday morning, police said.

Roger Randolph, younger sibling of the Sacramento Kings power forward, died following a shooting near Hop’s Blues Room in downtown Marion, according to WTHR. A nearby officer heard shots and discovered the victim lying between two cars in the parking lot — he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Zach Randolph was not with his brother when the confrontation unfolded shortly before 5 a.m. Authorities did not disclose what events led up to the shooting but said they do not believe it was a random act.

Roger Randolph in 2005 was sentenced to three years behind bars for his role in a night club shooting, which ended with three people wounded. His athlete brother, who was with him at Sinbad’s Lounge and Grill when the violent incident occurred, was questioned in the shooting, but not charged.

Zach Randolph, 36, has played for five different NBA teams during his 17-year career in basketball, including a brief stint with the New York Knicks.
