Recently found out that Edey's mother is a retired Mechanical Engineer and used to teach nuclear-related courses so that probably explains his ability to pick things up whether complex or simple. I really see someone who'll be a very clever, crafty player in a few years.

7'4 300 lbs. with an Engineering mother sounds pretty much like a create-a-player. Teams were crazy to pass :mjlol: :heh:

I remember Gil trashing him amd saying it was a bad pick to draft him in the lottery. Mostly because he was an older player and Gil has an obssession with young guys who MIGHT be dominant later. 7'5 300 lbs is hard to come by smh

IMO him being a rotation piece that can beat certain matchups is already a success. nikkas thought he'd just see a high PNR and cough up a lung trying to keep up with a guard

Edey will be fine. He has to just keep the ball high like Lopez does and he's either going to get fouled or score most of the time.

The Warriors were pouncing on the ball every time he dribbled or brought the ball down. That's an area he can and will improve on. He's a beast on the glass and he was deterring shots in the paint in that 4th.
I think it's important for people to understand that while he was much more skilled than expected for a 7'4 big against college players, he didn't exactly have to have good tendencies to beat them nikkas down. I don't see him becoming Hakeem or even Joel, but this year should be the absolute worst his post game gets. I would expect SOME improvement at least

Zack Edey shows potential

But he needs to stop trying to be the next Yao Ming. Yao had a very unique skillset that Edey just does not have. Edey needs to spend time in the offseason practicing to be like Shaq

- Drop steps
- Turn around hooks
- Alley oops
- Catching the ball deep in the paint, and never catching it beyond 10 feet from the rim

One possession that is reflective of his instincts.

There's no intent of putting himself in proper position to get the ball or making it easier for Kennard to pass it to him, and when the ball does come in his direction, he doesn't even bother to stick his hands out to grab it, he just remains in the same static position, and watches as it flies by him. There's no communication of where he wants the ball and no movement so that Kennard can clearly see where he is.

He's not entirely to blame for how the play unfolded, but if you're going to be a legit option as a big, you can't just be reliant on getting the ball in easy spots, you've got to adapt to the situation at hand. That's the difference between someone who's just a finisher and someone who's a go-to on offense. For someone who's soon-to-be 23, he should've already figured these things out by now.

Gils right imo he's too slow on the defensive end. Complete liability
