This video just dropped three days ago. In it he addresses your question.
ay good lookin.
so from the video my suspicions were confirmed. its not the producers fault. Its the rappers fault and the listeners fault that music is so stale nowadays. a producer is going to make beats, and some will just make beats that people like. others will make beats based on how he/she feels. and if someone likes it great, if not..oh well.
so to get variety in the game the listener and the rapper/artist has to request it.
now if you reach back to some OLD school producers of course you are going to them for that OLD school sound. but this dude aint 50 years old. his sound was popping a few years ago with gucci an nem. this aint that long ago. So why are dudes looking for a sound from 4 years ago like its 25 years ago is beyond me. i dont get it. and i aint hating on bruh getting his $$$. please get ya papa black man. please do. i'm just keeping it 1000 for the people who truly would like to hear more variety out there.
its' like this generation of artist(not just rappers either), and listeners are AFRAID of stepping outside of their comfort zones to do things differently. or to do what they REALLY feel. everyone is not the same. therefore, everyone doesnt feel the same . which tells me your music should reflect that. vs you trying to sound like the next man and the listeners clowning you if you try to sound like yourself and you dont sound like everyone else. its fear if you ask me.
