What do Zen Buddhism and Existentialism have to do with each other?

They seem to share similarities, but how deep do they really go? To begin with, Buddhist philosophy was an influence on the early Existentialist thinkers of 19th century Europe. The main thing that they both address are the actual facts of the human condition: dissatisfaction, impermanence, transience, suffering. These are all things that everybody can recognize regardless of intelligence, etc. Zen is all about action and Existentialism teaches that to be is to do.
