Zion is not Happy with the Pelicans. Family would like to see him on another team.

Zion would make more than enough to cover those losses from the New York marketing and branding. People be forgetting he exists locked away in New Orleans, but he'd be front and center in NY. He'd be everywhere and endorsements would go crazy.

You willing to take that gamble to make it to UFA knowing that there are concerns long term about whether your knee and body will hold up or not? Quite honestly, he'd be better served signing the extension and then forcing his way out after.

are there 30 cities where NBA superstars wanna play at? Bomani Jones in that Rich Paul article basically said no way.

Mental exercise people. Can the Coli think of 30 cities for NBA Superstars? After 15, we might give up

I can't even think of 15 tbh as it would essentially come down to personal opinion of what you think is a superstar city.

:wtf:

Y'all remember who he is real quick every time the NBA puts out their national schedule and y'all complain about how they're force feeding Zion to y'all. This is all just impatience for Zion to be that guy.

If Zion was a rapper he'd be the biggest industry plant this side of Chance The Rapper.

Not exactly.

There wasn't a maximum salary cap provision in the CBA at the time because of the lockout of 1998, so Orlando could have went over their cap and gave him whatever they want to keep him when other teams couldn't without gutting their roster. They chose to lowball him and then try and criticize his game hence him leaving to go to LA.

You right... I forgot they did try to give him a lowball offer

We all know Zion will be the face of the league in the next few years but he hasn’t earned the right to move to another destination already when he hasn’t played a full season or gotten his team to the playoffs.

It's the exact reason why a lot of us called Luka's bluff after the hitpiece the other day. If these dudes really want out while getting their pick of their next destination, then take the gamble and risk of injury by turning the extension and forcing your way into UFA. Quite honestly, they'd be better off taking the bread and forcing themselves elsewhere after.

The difference is those players signed rookie extensions with their original teams (minus Harden) and only demanded trades years after. No one has ever turned a max rookie extension, so Zion would be the first if he actually chooses to do so.

Would you take the gamble of turning down $150+ million dollars coming off your rookie contract?
Before the max Shaq turned down his rookie extension

Edit: ah yeah, forgot the circumstances
