I think if the soccer team had come to Queens/Citi Field (like it was reportedly supposed to ) and they had marketed the team to the 1 million South American immigrants that live within walking distance of the stadium, it would’ve been a lot more successful. Queens is huge on soccer.
Flushing is out b/c of the Mets, Belmont Park is out b/c the Islanders are gonna build there (they should be at the Nassau Coli). They could platform over Sunnyside Yards but they're still doing East Side Access and that shyt won't be done unitl 2023/24. Plus you'd probably have to build more than just an, at most, 25k seat stadium to justify how expensive platforming is.
