This. Folks acting like Black men from that generation had tons of opportunities available to them as far as careers were concerned.
He had a lot more opportunities 40 years ago, especially with the GI Bill, which I suspect he never touched.
He's the same age as my grandmother, who retired in '88 and a few younger than my grandfather, who retired in '86.
shyt, he was already in the military, even with the fukkery he could have retired decades ago off in the service.

some of ya brehs ignorant for clowning on the old breh for keeping the same job for 70 years and for working at a warehouse. Dude was born in the year of 1929 , 37 years before the segregation ended. back then it was hard for your average brehs and brehettes to progress and get a good paying job before 1965 and years after that.

the old breh done shyt that many of us wouldn't or didn't do. fought and survive a war and keep a job for 7 fricken decades.

and i bet his pension is fat as fukk. he should retire and enjoy the rest of his life chilling and travelling.
He should have retired and enjoyed his life decades ago.
He's one of the most solid examples of pure labour exploitation I've seen in quite some time.
Its also been 53 years since '65, his options haven't been closed since then.

Couldn't nothing separate him from that job:

  • Red scare of the 50s and racism/white supremacy
  • Civil rights era of the 60s and 70s and racism/white supremacy
  • Vietnam
  • Crack epidemic of the 80s and racism/white supremacy
  • 90s riots and racism/white supremacy
  • Recession during the 2000s

Man, I hope hes just doing the job out of habit or a sense of pride and that he could quit anytime and not have to worry about money since hes already financially secure.
I hate reading about it though, because its more likely that he never took the opportunity to see outside of where he was and try an entirely different area.
People are creatures of habit.
I hope for an entirely different life for his kids and grandkids.

Is there something you want to say? What is your point? What does depression have to do with not seeing this as a wide example to follow?

I already said if he enjoys it good for him.

Im trying to get my grandma to stop working so much at old age. Why would I wanna see old black people working in warehouses. Keep your fakkit ass out of my alerts
