It's wild. People complain about "cacs" and how they never want to take any accountability, etc. etc. and here's a woman who wrote a whole book about the advantages she's received being a white woman in this society and explicitly says that white people have to make this realization and still a way to criticize. It's not to our advantage trying to find fault in people who are actually trying to tackle these issues. And as has been explained, she wasn't referring to what overall reparations should or shouldn't be but simply how she calculated what her specific advantage has been, even given a humble upbringing. You can infer what that means for white people who grew up in wealth.
on one hand you could say its a good thing for raising awareness of how white supremacy benefits them but IMO it seems like this was done for clout. author seems like a "pick me" type that wants look good for the cameras. and it'll probably work, she'll sell a ton of books, and it'll be forgotten about in a month.
