he's not "officially" clear, but he was released and not required to give up his passport (something they don't do if they think you're guilty).

They also apologized to him.

So basically, he's still in Paris until they completely finish the investigation and it sounds like they're just going through the motions. They could've left him in jail or made him relinquish his passport If they were serious about him being a suspect. They literally just let him go and asked him not to leave the country right away
