With sports coverage, Its all about what moves the needle Every single media does it. Type of cliches used is dependent upon the target demographic.

When you're out their on the field/court you wanna know you're playing with some killers. That attitude is infectious. No one wants to look at a teammate whose body language shows he defeated, especially when a game/match is far from over
