Finished the game, and my xbox timer says 3h 35m played. I was afk for parts of the game, so it probably takes 3 hours to finish. Anyway, this is a pure vibe type of game and it's pretty much a walking simulator. Soundtrack is pretty good but I just couldn't connect with the story and characters. I think there's a major disconnect with how this game is going to be perceived. I understand what they're going for but it's a video game and they didn't do a good enough job to make it feel like a game. The major problem going this route is if I compare this to a tv show or movie, then it will look like an awful story. I just can't give a video game a pass if it's a walking simulator
I'm unsure how this game is getting 10s among journalist, but it feels like there's so many games that did a better job. I think you can easily compare this to life is strange series, and that game is much better and it actually has moments where it feels like a video game. One the other hand, this game doesn't have any moments where it feels like it's a game and they just tack on bad mini games. Then there's also something like Artful Escape that is made by the same developer that found ways to connect music to video game mechanics and this game should've followed a similar mechanic. I think the game doesn't do a good job in how they use the music as a gameplay element. I felt there's so much they could've done, but pretty much made an interactive movie
I think there's something going on behind the scenes in regards to this game. I can't believe a 3 hour walking simulator with limited video game mechanics is stiting at a 92 open critic. It truly feels there's somebody backing this game to convince journalist to inflate scores. Personally, I think it's a 6/10 at best because there's so much more they could've done to make it better. I guess the issue could be I'm not the main audience for this game because I've noticed black people and other poc aren't connecting with the game compared to how white people have connected to the game.
