Run dmc pioneered white t's in rap.
ny pioneered the snapback with the admiral.
Cali did not invent gangster rap.
nor, did they have the first gangsta who rapped and did all the legwork to have a label and produce/program/play all the instrument/write/ fund the label.
Nor were they the first to make content about a trap first either.

Now, dispute it,..
So I can put you throughed't the table with the facts.

This is that fake toy not knowing the history shyt I was talembout.

Also,...
nikkaz having sounds in their ride as a culture thing was ny.

I will give Cali credit for making eyecandy popular, with ice t, though.

His point is based in fallacy.

War Vets wore camo on a daily basis before there was even a hip hop.... shyt, with the rates that they were amongst the homeless, their camos were some of the few items that they owned.

fitted hats, were not made popular by hip hop... people of all races and backgrounds wore baseball hats... cause it's an american thing.

Yeah, I get what he's saying, but he was just missing the point of what the thread starter was implying. Yeah baseball hats are an American thing, but hip hop took the fitted game to another level. At one point hats were mainly to show support to your home team, NYC took them shyts and rocked any random team because of the colorway... That's hip hop

Sneakers had a basic purpose, matter fact hard bottoms used to be a staple amongst men.. Hip Hop/ street dudes flipped that shyt... The camo goes with my point.. Originally being worn by vets and protesters, NYC dudes turned them shyts into regular street wear just to look fly.

NYC turned hiking boots into everyday street kicks... You get my point. NYC has been known to take something only meant to worn for (or in) certain situations, and make it a everyday thing. fukk, dudes here were walking around with them army/combat vests. They turned off road Jeep wranglers into city rides.... They weren't the first to own jeeps and drive them, but they found a way to flip them into something different etc.....

I think the dude that originally made those comments was just looking for a way to shyt on the original posters comments anyway he could.

Whoa, whoa, this is simply not true. Not sure if in the process of shytting on the poster you went a little over board or what, cuz you're usually on point but not this time.

Car audio really started jumping off in Bakersfield, CA in 1981 where the first car audio competition took place. You really don't wanna give a city like NY where the main mode of transportation is public transportation credit in this category bro, it's quite laughable. Sure there may be an old clip floating around of some nikka in NY with a boombox in their ride in 1978, but come on man, car audio and everything synonymous with car audio starts in Cali. Unless you wanna go all the way back to the Galvin Bros. (Motorola) in the 1930's or Madman Muntz (8-track) in the 50's, both of whom are from Chicago, but that kinda goes off topic cuz it predates Hip-Hop.

Look up Rich Coe who revolutionized amps and basically created the "booming system" that "cars drive by with", or Isaac Goren who put Alpine on the map out of his shop in Woodland Hills, CA, or Gene Czerwinski (Cerwin-Vega) who basically created the sub-woofer while working for Universal Studios in Cali.

I know you're an old head, so it's pretty surprising that you don't have an appreciation for what was taking place in Cali in the late '70s around the time Hip-Hop was being birthed. Car audio, as we know it in Hip-Hop was just an extension of the Boombox, which, contrary to what you may think was not started in NY either. The boomboxes as we know them were first created in Japan and then brought to Cali and then the rest of the world, NY just knew what to do with them lol.

Not to ride Cali's nuts and go off on a tangent, but I'm really shocked that you didn't know this, I'm kinda hurt :to:

but the problem is that none of those things in general, are NYC bred.

You should check out the 30 for 30 documentary on NWA/ The Raiders.... it's NWA who made sports apparel what it is today for hip hop.... not NYC.

Camo didn't gain popularity because of hip hop, it was a staple of counter culture ( army vets/protesters) and then got adopted by another counter culture movement ( hip hop)... it's not an NYC thing.

NYC didn't turn sneakers into regular kicks to look fly, that shyt happened in every city...in every part of the country.

Hiking Boots into everyday street kicks? :heh: that whole look, was popular before NYC cats did it.... Brands like Helly Hanson,North Face,Marmot, Timberland..even Eddie Bauer..All popular before hip hop made them staples of the culture.

taking something that's functional, and it turning into fashion...isn't a New York thing, it's a practice that's existed for thousands of years.

Jeeps? breh, cats in LA and the southwest were riding around in Jeeps,Geo Trackers and Suzuki Samurais in the city... because people in LA went to the beach, and people in the southwest go offroading....long before there was a hip hop.

:heh: @ the shyt you wanna claim that NYC made hot.

The NYC streetwear scene is like nothing else in America. Only thing I've seen in the orbit of what we got is LA and to a much smaller degree SF.

obviously its new york, but how is philly not an option? philly started mad chit. some of it stolen by new york.

L.A. the only other respectable option on this list. and even then, they havnt influenced anything in nearly 20 years.

these other options aint never start any type of fashion trends. atlanta, houston and the south in general get all their fashion mad late. only south city that had any type of fashion influence was new orleans for a few years.

the bay? lol.

canada? oh hell no.

who the hell made this poll?

bruh no disrespect but who tf are them nikkas? most southern rappers in the 90s dont have as much pictures compared to their NY and cali counterparts so this is irrelevent. and we did start that poloshyt if not continued it to this day youll find a florida nikka wearing polo boots a polo and chinos/cargos with a wide brimmed bucket hat, and gold teeth

where you get yall from?

im not from new york.

but new york is clearly the leader of the pack, even tho they steal credit for certain trends at times.

and i lived in the south dog. the south is late as f*ck on darn near everything. theres stuff that they just started rockin down there recently that has been played out for years up here. but its brand-new to them.
