Use this twist sponge. It's very easy and cheap. 5 minutes of twisting you hair counterclockwise or clockwise (depends on the person) and you'll be set.

I wish I freeform from the beginning. I started out getting dreads traditionally with twists and just dropped getting my hair done.

You have to keep going at it. Twist every morning and evening before you go to bed. Eventually youll get the tight twists and sections in your hair and it wont matter when you go to bed...

nope you dont need to comb it. Put a little bit of water in your hair and just start twisting
As someone who’s freeformed high top dreads twice before, here’s some tips that helped me.
Take biotin for healthy hair. It also helps with skin and nails
Use Jamaican caster oil, or some hair care products that have it included
DO NOT USE SHAMPOOS WITH SULFATES! This fukks up your hair a lot
Don’t shampoo often
You can use the twist sponge, or just use your hands to twist your hair in the same motion, and it’ll dread up. A towel also works. I used my hand and a towel, and it came out pretty dope. I got a lot of compliments
