I was rocking with the young turk hook at the beginning,

but I cant get with that sped-up autotune rap-singing. its so tacky-sounding.

This just dropped today.

Neno Calvin has been steadily climbing through the rap hierarchy of New Orleans, his beloved birthplace whose Cash Money and No Limit dynasties inspired him to become the next big thing out of NOLA and pushed him to be as authentic as is possible. Don't get it twisted though: "authentic" does not mean "ignorant." Neno understands the importance of “turning your gangster down” in certain situations. “If you talk to your momma any kind of way, you ain’t got no respect,” he said when he stopped by MASS APPEAL HQ for an “Open Space” interview. “All my partners that talked to they momma disrespectful, that I grew up with, they dead." Calvin has enjoyed a bright stretch recently—his profile rose significantly after releasing 'Calvinism 3' in 2017 and his January 1 release, “Don’t Go There,” has already amassed over 20,000 views on YouTube, setting the stage for what may be a banner year for this descendant of the notorious Magnolia housing projects. “Don’t Go There” is a song driven by the trauma of losing loved ones. He hints at substance abuse in its lyrics and conveys the feeling of being passed over or “slept on” in the industry. The trick is not to get derailed in spite of all that. "N****s been playing with choppers, feel me?” he explains, keen to dead the notion that gunplay in videos is somehow a show of strength. “I know if I do that shyt in the video, the police are coming to get me.” For the kid who met Birdman at a Thanksgiving turkey giveaway and channeled Lil Wayne in his creative process, all this is just the beginning. Watch the new “Open Space” above for a taste of what's to come. Damn shame NOLA went from having 2 Labels that were the face of the entire rap industry to having the worst rappers in the state :picard:
