Anyone else buy these retro handhelds that play up to PS1 era games such as the Anbernic rg40xx h?

I just bought one from eBay on Friday for less than $70. The price was cheap and for what it does, I'm excited to try it out as I wanted something that I can use when I'm not in a good Wi-Fi area to stream with the PS Portal plus I just use that for current gen games. Something cheap like the one I posted is good since I can play some oldies that I just don't feel like setting up on the PC as when I'm at home more likely than not I'm going to be playing something current. The other ones like the Retroid Pocket 5 or Anbernic 406V are a bit more expensive and I just wanted something sub $100 for PS1 and below.

I got a Retroid Pocket 5 earlier this year. I love it though certain games like the Budokai Tenkaichi games are laggy. I was planning on getting an AYN Thor but kind of decided against it. I’ll probably get a mini PC to do my PS2/GameCube emulation on my living room TV.

I thought the one I purchased was this one as it looks like PS2/GC is okay for emulation. I'll just probably stick it out on the one I ordered(Rg 40xx h) and see how it fairs.

I bought an Odin 2 summer 2024. An absolute beast. I've been playing Wii and PS2 games on there.

AYN came back from Chinese New Year holiday. They said they're upping the prices on the products due to the ongoing ram issues. I would buy one of these ASAP.:francis:
There’s so many to choose from… which one should I get z?
What systems are you looking to emulate? Snes/Genesis era? PS2/GameCube era?

I have an Retroid Pocket 5 right now and it's pretty good for PS2/GC era and previous, with a couple exceptions for high end games. The Retroid Pocket 6 is the latest one and is best in terms of power and price overall.

AYN Thor is a bit stronger and is best if you want to emulate dual screen like the DS and 3DS. A bit pricier though.

The Odin 3 is the most powerful and also the most expensive. It might be overkill for the average user though.

Yeah honestly for GameCube/PS2 era you should be good with the Retroid Pocket.
Off the official site:

AYN site:

Also checkout Ayaneo and Anbernic who make the same type of handhelds:

Learning/reading up on the Retroid pocket, but the fact that you said Gamecube/Ps2, I'm thinking I could cop this for myself and play games from that era, and get an AYN for my bro who'd go a bit further and play whatever. We'd be able to swap handhelds, no problem, but what's the difference/similarities between the Pocket and Thor/Odin?
