Well I wouldn't say it's ignored so much as that it's just one of those common racial truths that everyone knows. We don't really need to bring it up as all know what is going on.
However, to be fair to George Lucas...he seems to have at least some sense of racial responsibility. He basically made Red Tails because he could sense that Hollywood had given up on black stories.
Even though it was a shytty movie that bombed...
Of course...you could also imply that he was simply trying to make a cash grab off of black history....but I personally disagree with this reading. I think he genuinely wanted the film to "mean something".
The problem is that he's a shytty writer/director, ended up fukking our story up, and probably ended up setting black stories back even further....
