Behind B.I.G. and Mase, French Montana is Diddy's most successful rap artist.

dude if you are going to compare who was 'bigger' on bad boy then its simple who sold the most records...

the bad boy flops like gdep etc probably sold a few times what frenchie did -- 250K
the bad boy stable artists sold like 10 times what frenchie did - plat
the bad boy stars sold like 20 times what frenchie did double and tripple plat

dude its really simple math, dude is around dropping a lot of songs, some get put in rotation, but they dont sell. Labels put songs in rotation with $$$, fans cast their vote when they purchase, at least singles, i mean i know albums dont sell for a french montana type artist, but his singles aint lighting up itunes... dude just isnt that popular...

and he certainly isnt skilled, or making timeless music where one could argue for him on a quality level... he is making the same kinda music as everyone else, maybe a little work quality than average, and not selling no singles or albums

Black Rob's "Life Story" and Shyne's "Shyne" were bigger albums, sold more, had more hits and were more quality than anything French has done. French is like 3rd, 4th Teir in Bad Boy Records History when it comes to sales, impact, quality, etc.

Ya'll talking numbers and IT DONT MATTER.

Shyne will NEVER have as big of a career as French.

And...da band? really? You're using that as an example? :snoop:
nikkas living in a fantasy. cant compare sales from 14 years ago to now. french IS more poppin than any of them aside from puff himself, mase and biggie,as far as rap acts.

I feel like Puff is the most successful artist he's had after BIG and Mase for real but that's a different argument. If we're talking dudes outside of himself, I'd have to go with Rob, Shyne or 112. I guess it's outdated but for me, I'm going to look at the success they contributed to the label and like @scuba said, it comes down to the math. If the label is putting money into getting him spins and yet not recouping any of it from his album sales or single sales, then it's really moot. The fact that he can do shows is great but his overall impact is going to seem like a blip years form now. BR, Shyne and most certainly 112 can say they had hit singles and at least one high selling album. I know a lot of cats scoff at album sales now but you know who doesn't? Those labels shelling out the money to market and push their artists..but if you're talking impact, then you have to include sales, you can't just focus on one aspect and discard the other. Numbers are the one thing that isn't subjective.

Jasmine, Can I live, Whoa, Thug Story, Spanish Fly, Espacio, I love you baby, I dare you..those are BR joints.

Someone already named Shyne joints from his album. I don't think it's living in a bubble breh as much as it's looking at the whole picture. And even so, I'd argue that Puffy is the biggest star on the label after BIG and Mase anyway

True but if the beat for Whoa comes on today it's still :dj2:

No one is gonna be able to recite a French Montana lyric in 5 years.
I didn't know anyone could recite a French Montana "lyric" now.
:deadmanny: it's like OP has no idea who Shyne or black Rob are. And why don't the Lox count?
