Production?

To me that means the music itself.

Are niqqas on the fence about Organized being far and away the best music makers out of that batch? Iono Breh..

I like some of the other albums better cause OK was still cutting their teeth and some of the bars are cringey. But take off all the words? Southernplayalistic is def the best.

Edit: Blowout Comb is soooo close.

The Main Ingredient, Illmatic & Ready To Die in that order. Honourable Mention to Word Life from O.C. which is extremely underrated.

Yep. Music, overall vibes, instruments, tone, atmosphere, having a cohesiveness sound etc

I wanted to include Stress the extinction agenda on the main poll but i think i replaced it with Blowout Comb as that album is meant to be renowned for its production, whilst Stress is more known for its lyricsm. Ive heard 3 songs from stress tho and think the drums on Bring it On (and the buckwild remix) are sick

And Southernplayalistic i still havent heard, despite owning their 2 next albums (which i havent heard either)

Glad the main ingredients getting love in this thread

And it hurt to leave Word Life off, but i predict i'll be more hurt for the 1995 thread.

Thread No.7 - Hip Hop albums with the best production in your opinion from 1994

It's 1994 now, and its gonna be interesting to see what album thecoli picks

Leaderboards so far:
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1988 - N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (2nd)
EPMD - Strictly Business / Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick (Joint 3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1989 - The D.O.C. - No One Can Do It Better
Too Short - Life Is...Too Short (2nd)
De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising (3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1990 - Ice Cube - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm (2nd)
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet (3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1991 - N.W.A - Nikkaz4Life
DJ Quik - Quik Is the Name (2nd)
Ice Cube - Death Certificate (3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1992 - Dr. Dre - The Chronic
Pete Rock & CL Smooth - Mecca and the Soul Brother (2nd)
Redman - Whut? Thee Album / The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (Joint 3rd)
Best produced Hip Hop Album - 1993 - Snoop Dogg - Doggystyle
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) (2nd)
A Tribe Called Quest - Midnight Marauders (3rd)

lmao at this list! :laff: That West Coast insecurity/anything Tupac/Dre nuthugging :wow:

It's weird - The Booth swears it's overrun by Drake stans when Drake loses every single positive poll and Ducktales LePlant wins every poll. :jbhmm: The Booth swears it's overrun by Nas stans/East Coast supremacy when in fact the poll results demonstrate a delusional West Coast bias.

On no planet is DOC's album the best produced album of 1989, especially over De La. AmeriKKKa's most wanted is not better produced than Tribe's first album fukk outta here. AMW has more fiery lyrics and certainly made its waves, but are we really gonna say that the production (the fukking production!) is superior to an album that spawned Bonita Applebum, Footprints, Rhythm and Can I Kick It? Really!? I know older cats who were around when those albums dropped in real time and they told me that the production on Tribe's shyt blew them the fukk away. shyt sounded like a whole new era.

In 1991, Quik over Low End Theory? Again... on what planet? shyt, I'd put Cypress Hill's first album over NWA's second album because Muggs' production really changed shyt. And that's a West Coast album so y'all can't talk about me hating the West Coast. The difference is that it's not connected to the Interscope machine so y'all dismiss it.

And now we're in 1994. Posters actually say "Regulate" is in the top 3 best produced albums of 1994 :laff: White Jesus Christ on a boat! shyt... Hammer's Funky Headhunter has better production than that shyt. But again, not connected to Ducktales - Dre - Interscope so it doesn't get mentioned or voted on. Posters are out here voting with their zip codes instead of their ears.

As far as great production, MC Solaar's Prose Combat is easily one of the best produced albums ever. I'd put it in the top 5 of 1994. If you've heard it, you already know what I mean. The producers were doing shyt with beat variations I haven't heard before or since.

Peep the beat change at 3:54 and then again at 4:15

this is insane

Man I love Ready To Die, Illmatic, The Diary, Thug Life Vol1 and Tical, but if you REALLY think/feel those have better beats than SPCM, Creepin' On Ah Comeup or Regulate, you're a deaf ignorant retard

All preference based i guess, but im surprised Creepin on ah come up doesnt have a single vote. Thought the production on that was decent, although i hear at the time, some people from the east coast found bone's overall sound kinda 'cartoonish'

Most posters probably havent heard every album from that era, so it was gonna be kinda bias/unfair to begin with. Im hoping that alot of olders come in and vote for that reason.
