He didn't like the fact that people knew they were working together. He wanted that shyt hided. Dan always used to tell Danielle that he hated people knew they were together, because they would both go up on the block together. He was planning to make a public fight with her since he entered the game. He even had fake fights with Memphis in BB10 to hide their alliance. That was the other part of it.
The other part is he needed Shane and Joe to vote out Britney and keep Danielle. They wouldn't have kept her if they knew she was still aligned with Dan.
