Black Miss Croatia 2017 headed to MIT

Shanaelle Petty was crowned 2017 Miss Universe Croatia last April, and made it into the top 16 at the Miss Universe 2017 pageant. She will enter MIT this fall as part of the class of 2022. This interview has been condensed and edited for length and clarity.

Remember the mixed Black Miss Croatia from Miss Universe 2017 (Shanaelle Petty)? She is actually headed to MIT in the fall to study physics I read in the school magazine.

Before everyone posts she seems to be an army brat that grew up in Fayetteville, NC and her parents are still together so don't judge the girl,

I'll still call #blackexcellence though the "but she's mixed" crowd is definitely showing up
