Wherever whores go.....
I wouldn't want any luxury after 80K miles
:manny:

I'm at 40K right now on my A4
Will look to get rid of it at 65K
The more mileage the more headache you have. I mean normal maintenance prevents a lot of future problems but it just gets too expensive.

it's all about how the car was maintained if you buy one privately and get it looked over you can be fine. A car like that has to be something you want... like I looked at an E36 M3 in the spring that had 100 something k on but was well maintained with records and it was exactly what I wanted... I wouldn't go down to bob's wholesale and pick up 2000's 5 Series with limited records...

I sold my last S4 with 180k on it, spent less than $500 dollars in parts my last year of owning it. Which is basically nothing. I think I changed the alternator, and maybe the starter, and battery.

have to disagree.... as long as a car has been regularly serviced apart from normal wear and tear they can last forever... just get an extended warranty If need be for parts

How do they run? What's the maintenance like?
Check out Consumer Reports on the model and year. Some models are better and some are worse.
A 525 might have more problems than a 535, and a 325 of the same year as the 525 might not have the same problems. A seven series might have really low problems, but a 4 liter engine in a 740 might eat your money compared to a 3 liter in a 330 if you do a lot of driving.
A 325 from one year might be awesome and the next year's 325 might have a ton of problems.

Maintenance can be cheap if you do it yourself. 80 percent of maintenance (not repair) can be performed by a red neck grease monkey with partial high school education. Step 1. disconnect part. Step 2, replace part.
Electrical gremlins will be the biggest hassle compared to mechanical gremlins.

actually let me put my 2 cents in.... stay away from any high millage'd boosted/turbo bimmer unless the turbos and internals have been replaced (water pump, fuel pump, turbo(s), bearings), at the end of the day mechanics is mechanics and physics is is physics. failure will be imminent with any type of high speed moving part with a bunch of miles on it.

I had an X5 that was around 190k that never needed any major work until the guibo started going out. shyt that was about 50k past when they usually do. I didn't buy it new (about 90k) and I had two other cars at the time and bought it strictly for work commute. I traveled for my business and drove up and down the west coast all year round. I put that 100k on it in just over a year. I sold it because my assistant had an accident and fukked the transmission up. Had it not been for that, I couldnt see anything that wouldve kept it from being roadworthy. Its all about the care of the car you drive. If there are any turbos involved then you should expect to need maintenance well before the average, just in case (you may not though).

knock on wood, I've driven my 06' 330 up to 230k with NO major problems and no major service done to it, I plan on getting an 08-10 335 now or something

forgot to mention, i got a check engine light(who the fukk knows what, nothing crazy) and an airbag light(pretty sure this is because of my dying battery) :yeshrug:
