That's two seasons from now. They had to deal with IT now. They were seeking to trade him anyway to avoid to pay a max deal or him leaving and not having anything in return.

Outside the draft pick. This doesn't move the needle with the Cavs AT ALL. LeBron is still leaving, IT is a RENTAL and what is left the following year? This isn't going to help them beat the Warriors which is the main objective.

Guaranteed in two years, the CELTICS are finals bound barring injury. Ainge looking at the bigger picture, and still able to keep cap money and have more draft picks on deck.

Yeah but in two years Kyrie's deal is up. Boston wasn't on his radar as a team he'd want to go to, especially with Hayward there taking a lot of his shots. If LeBron leaves they can blow it up because they have a coveted pic. It's gonna be interesting to see how this trade pans out for both teams.

Only thing I will say is that everybody on the Celtics is under contract for the next two seasons at least when they started they had. IT/Bradley both free agents and crowder who had a friendly deal but was kind of a tweener. If brown and tatum develop I can see it working. Still though that BK pick was overkill to me.
