The Wu-Tang Clan's Ghostface Killah said the four months he spent in a New York state prison last year were a blessing in disguise. While the sentence for attempted robbery delayed the 29-year-old rapper's second album, Supreme Clientele, it also gave him a second chance to refine the disc, he said.

I wonder if he was treated like a celebrity in there?

I thought he got charged after that?
it was while recording. Remember, it was months before his album was released. He wasn't acquitted until years and millions of dollars later. Suge saved that man's life because according to the evidence, I thought it was an open and shut case back then to get Snoop for accessory to murder, being that he was an accessory to murder. Basically, it was some beef that had happened earlier in the night, then later Snoop drove to a location where the guys were and his mans killed on of them. Regardless if dude had a gun or not, you went to a location someone was at you were beefing with earlier and he pulled his gun to protect himself..

Marshall Mathers may have been going thru alot but I don't see TES as classic. :usure:

Props for the Tribe drop tho. Never knew all that was going on with them at that time. :ohhh:

You should check out TES again when you have the chance. It's the best version of Eminem that ever existed. He really lays out everything he's going through on that album.

I'm glad you mentioned Moment of Truth because I love that album and think it's Gang Starr's masterpiece. To add to what you said, Guru was also an alcoholic and his drinking problem was getting worse. Premier had issues with it and they actually broke up for a while. They got back together to finish the album so if Guru did go to jail, the record sales would at least support his family.

I think Premier said that Guru wrote the first two verses of "Moment of Truth" while he was going through the trial and the third verse after he won. "JFK 2 LAX" also sounds like it was written during the trial.

Inspired by @FunkDoc1112's thread. Made while Eminem was facing prison time for allegedly pistol-whipping a bouncer that kissed his wife. He was also working on 8 Mile, and the long shooting days (18 hours) were what eventually led to his addiction to sleeping pills. At the time, Eminem felt like his life had turned into The Truman Show and he was becoming sick and tired of fame, while also being targeted by politicians and protest groups.

Made while the group was going through a major transitional period. Phife found out he had diabetes and decided to increase his involvement in the group. Jarobi left to pursue culinary arts, and the group was involved in a huge legal dispute that led to them firing their manager (DJ Red Alert), fracturing relationships in the Native Tongues, and becoming more disillusioned with the industry. The album's sound is noticeably darker than the first one, even down to the content ("The Infamous Date Rape"). One song was so controversial, Jive Records insisted it got taken off the album ("Georgie Porgie"). It ended up getting turned into "Show Business."

Grand Puba was on Georgie Porgie but did not want to redo his verse when Tribe decided to make Show Business instead. That's why you don't hear Puba on the album.
